RISTT Day 8

“The most precious resource we all have is TIME”

Our time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma—which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice and more importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. When we think about tomorrow we must think about our time today. Time, as we grow old, teaches many lessons because time is the wisest counselor of all, time is the school in which we learn and time is the fire in which we burn. Time is equal to our life; therefore, waste your time and waste of your life, or master your time and master your life. Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade!

When managing our time it is necessary to check your priorities. It’s not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is, what are we busy about? We must categorize and sort our priorities. If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got. In our Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training, we have to finish a lot of tasks. Whenever we think about how we’re gonna finish all our tasks, we become unable to do even a single task. It is because we don’t set priorities. We can’t serve two masters at the same time. To do two things at once is to do neither. One of the most popular in Chinese proverbs says “One cannot manage too many affairs: like pumpkins in the water, one pops up while you try to hold down the other.

Steve Jobs once say’s “for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today is the last day of my life, what do I want to do?, what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something”

Do not think about the deadline, think about how you’re gonna finish it. If we want success we must change something. We have to change our mindset and have a strong will. Just like Steve Jobs, he is a kind of person that thinks that he excels from among others, though it is kinda negative to others he makes it as a motivation and he succeeds in life. Because of his strong will and have a proper management of time, he is now known as a founder of Apple and Pixar.

steve-jobs---mini-biography

Every day just the beginning of a new day. God has given us this day to use as I will. we can waste it or use it for good. What we do today is important, because we are exchanging a day of our life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that we have traded for it. For me I want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil; success not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it.

Time is the most precious thing in life that doesn’t cost money. that’s why in our day 8 of training we had given a template on making a monthly planning calendar, which is very useful in managing our time during our 21 days campaigned.

“There is no such thing as overnight success or easy money”

“There is no such thing as overnight success or easy money. If you fail, do not be discouraged; try again. When you do well, do not change your ways. Success is not just good luck: it is a combination of hard work, good credit standing, opportunity, readiness, and timing. Success will not last if you do not take care of it.” That is a famous saying of the Philippine’s richest man, Henry Sy. Henry T. Sy Sr. is a Chinese-Filipino business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He is involved in the industries of real estate, hospitality, banking, mining, education, and health care. Please click the link to read more

henrysy_1940x900

Just like us, Henry Sy experiences a lot of afflictions, suffering and many failures. he came from China and was migrated here in the Philippines. He started his small business, but unfortunately, his store was fully damaged when the world war II has arisen. After a series of failures in his business, Henry Sy stood back up and persevered to attain his goal. He established a small shoe store in Quiapo, Manila that marked the establishment of SM Prime Holdings. Now with three of the most valuable companies in the Philippines: SM Investments Corp. and SM Prime Holdings Inc., valued at over Php 1 trillion each, and BDO Unibank, valued a  multi- million peso, he is has become the richest man in the country. With his inspiring story, one can learn about the ideals of success. Henry Sy tells us not to give up on our dreams, no matter how far-fetched it seems. He also say’s that “You have to have a dream, whether big or small. Then plan, focus, work hard and be very determined to achieve your goals.” if we do such a thing who knows, maybe ours is the next success story to tell!.

Our story as a freelancer begins with building a website. Building a website is not quite easy because you need to know writing a page content by mastering the SEO tool. What does SEO mean? It is Search Engine Optimization which is the process of affecting the online visibility of a website Click here to know more about the SEO.

After we created our website pages, there is a need to improve each one of them. to improve such a thing we must Think about…

  • How will your target market search online about a problem that your product is a solution for?
  • How will your target market search online to know more about the solutions found?
  • How will your target marketing search online to know more about your MSME and its product or service offering?

Another thing that we have learned was all about finding blogs. Blogs can be a resource when looking for experiences or point of view on various topics. We can use Google.com to search for topics relevant to the awareness, consideration, and decision stage of our buyer’s journey. It is practical to research another blog post similar to our topic. As a blogger, we must Connect with other bloggers by leaving a comment on their blog post or on social media.

“Only those who are asleep make no mistake”

The more we live in this world the more we experience a lot of things, the more we experienced a lot of things the more we commit mistakes, but that’s normal. Only those who are asleep make no mistake. The most successful persons in the world are the ones who have committed thousands of mistakes before they succeed. Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, J.K. Rowling, Oprah and many other famous personalities experienced mistakes and failures. Before their success, this world’s most successful people experienced epic failure. We celebrate their success but often overlook the path that got them there. A path that is often marked with failure. Thus, it is not a valid reason to stop whenever we experience failure.

kamprad

Ingvar Kamprad a multi-billion dollar entrepreneur one’s boycotted by his furniture supplier but because of his determinations he did not stop there, instead, he found his IKEA (A multi-billion company) who manufactured cheap and quality furniture. The point here is we may not be discouraged if we fail, just keep on going until you succeed. Ingvar Kamprad say’sMaking mistakes is the privilege of the active. It is always the mediocre people who are negative, who spend their time proving that they were not wrong“. Their crowning achievements stem from drive and determination as much as ability. Persistence and certitude are the difference between success and failure. The story of Ingvar Kamprad brings us to the story of “The Elephant Rope”

elephant-2

The elephant on this story when he is very young and much smaller the trainer used a small size of rope to tie him and at that age, it’s enough to hold him. As he grows up, he is conditioned to believe he cannot break away. he believes the rope can still hold him, so he never tries to break free.

The same situation as we have today, our mindset what we have or what we can do, that’s it, we don’t go beyond. We all have dreams but how can we achieve our dreams if we stop? Don’t limit yourself today, don’t let the small rope hold you just like the elephant, be the boss of your own dream.

As a newbie in online freelance, it’s normal to fail ten, hundred or even a thousand times. Just like writing the page content which is quite difficult. Most of us may have a problem with writing a page content or even fail but we must not stop.

Day six we watch a video on how To setup Yoast SEO Plugin and start writing a good page content. Please watch the video link below.

RISTT Day 5

Want to be a better person? Pause and choose wisely!

Every day that we live on this earth we make choices. Things happen, we make decisions, and that shapes our life. It’s that simple, but do we put enough thought into how we react to things that happen to us?

Sometimes we’re so busy that we just react rather than think. As with many things, a slight pause will create a moment of increasing awareness of the words we choose to speak or the actions we choose to take. This affects every single aspect of our lives, and it’s especially true in relationships.

It’s been a while since we had started our training, just like the other day we started our 5th day with a very inspirational story. It is the story of Potatoes, Eggs and Coffee Beans. There was a girl who always complained to her father that her life was miserable and that she didn’t know how she was going to make it. She was tired of fighting and struggling all the time. It seemed just as one problem was solved, another one soon followed.

Her father, a chef, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high temperature. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot and ground coffee beans in the third pot. He then let them sit and boil without saying a word to his daughter. The daughter moaned and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. After twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He took the potatoes out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. He took the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. He then ladled the coffee out and placed it in a cup.

Turning to her, he asked. “What do you see?” “Potatoes, eggs and coffee,” she hastily replied.

“Look closer”, he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noted that they were soft.

He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. Its rich aroma brought a smile to her face.

“Father, what does this mean?” she asked.

He explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity – the boiling water. However, each one reacted differently.

The potato went in strong, hard and unrelenting, but in boiling water, it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile, with the thin outer shell protecting its liquid interior until it was put in the boiling water. Then the inside of the egg became hard. However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were exposed to the boiling water, they changed the water and created something new.

“Which one are you?” he asked his daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean?”

potato

Thomas Merton was a Trappist monk and writer. He said, “To hope is to risk frustration. Therefore, make up your mind to risk frustration.” What happens when adversity knocks on your door? Viktor Frankl, the Jewish psychologist who spent time in a Nazi concentration camp in Germany said, “They stripped me naked. They took everything—my wedding ring, watch. I stood there naked and all of a sudden realized at that moment that although they could take everything away from me—my wife, my family, my possessions—they could not take away my freedom to choose how I was going to respond.”

There’s a wonderful verse in the New Testament we need to think about Romans 12:12 says: “Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer.”. God knows what he’s doing in our lives, even if we don’t. He is working quietly, taking the worst situations and turning them into good.

Against great obstacles William Wilberforce, a committed Christian Member of Parliament, fought for the abolition of the African slave trade and against slavery itself until they were both illegal in the British Empire. The battle consumed almost 46 years of his life (from 1787 to 1833). The defeats and setbacks along the way would have caused the ordinary politician to embrace a more popular cause.

Though he never lost a parliamentary election from age 21 to 65, the cause of abolishing the slave trade was defeated 11 times before its passage in 1807. And the battle for abolishing slavery itself did not gain the decisive victory until three days before he died in 1833. During those 46 years, he battled illness (eye problems and ulcerative colitis)—he was on opium to help with the pain. His friends deserted him, but he battled on. He persevered against great adversity. But slavery was abolished.

In life, things happen around us, and things happen to us. The only thing that truly matters is your choice of how you react to it and what you make of it. Learn, adapt and choose to make the best of each experience.

Today I don’t know what adversity you face. But I can tell you how the Apostle Paul handled it, and gave this divine word, which applies today: Romans 5:3-5: And not only so, but we also boast in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces endurance; And endurance, approvedness; and approvedness, hope; And hope does not put us to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

One of the crucial thing that we had discuss is about the Data Privacy , in the cyber world. We all know that we are prone to hacking or a language of steeling on someones data property/properties. that’s why the Republic of the Philippines has its own act regarding this matter, which is the Republic Act 10173 or known as  Data Privacy Act of 2012, please click the link above to know about the act.

RISTT Day 4

“Some injuries heal more quickly if you keep moving”

Nick-Vujicic-injuries-heal-quickly

Most of the time we are always complaining about how our life goes without considering that we are the one who manipulates our own life. whenever we fail we complain, get discouraged and even throw ourselves into bitterness. Most of us had mindsets that we are designed for success only because we can’t handle failure. Why? it is because we don’t get the failure as a challenge and most of all we do not consider the phrase “KEEP MOVING”. Just keep on moving, don’t stop.

On the 4th day of our Rural Impact Sourcing Technical Training, I am inspired by the story of a disabled person whose name Nick Vujicic. He says “Having faith, beliefs, and convictions is a great thing, but your life is measured by the actions you take based on them”. Nick Vujicic is born without arms and leg yet he did not stop there. Having no arms and legs… imagine that for a second! It should be enough for your brain to take you through a series of events of how life would be like. Now imagine that this same man can swim, surf, play football, and golf. In spite of all the challenges he had to put up with, Vujicic continues to push his limits and has made a name for himself in teaching others about self-love and confidence in the face of disability and adversity. It is ironic how our mind can paralyze us despite us having full control of our bodies; yet extraordinary of what it can offer when unlocked. he didn’t count his disability as a failure but he considers it as his encouragement to pursue his dream. As a freelancer, there are lots of things that can discourage us but we must keep on going and must not be afraid of what we are doing, do not believe in disability just focus on your strength. Just as Nick Vujicic says “Fear is the biggest disability of all and will paralyze you more than being in a wheelchair”.

There are lots of things that we can build and claim as our expertise. We can learn if we want to do it and if we enjoy doing it. Day 4 of our training, the trainer introduced a very useful online tool for our better freelance life. here are those tools:

  • Trello.com– an online bulletin board. To help in organizing the project into smaller, more manageable tasks.
  • Lastpass.com – an online password storage vault. A password storage vault to help in remembering and securing all passwords.
  • Tmetric.com – an online timekeeper. For keeping track of your time when you are doing online freelancing work.

“Don’t put your life on hold so that you can dwell on the unfairness of past hurts”
